The image here is a new piece of art that will become part of an oracle card deck I am working on.
I have created it to honor the thought of allowing our heart to speak.
I have spent a lot of time trying to listen to my own heart in the past few years. This has led me to some good choices and some not so good ones too. What I have realized recently is that sometimes there is more to consider than just the voice of your own heart.
Sometimes listening to your heart can have you making decisions too quickly which in the end, creates more stress, and may cause your heart to get all stressed out and may also cause anxiety -not only for you but for people you love. I still think listening to your heart is the way to live your life- but I also think that when your heart speaks, it is ok for your mind to ask questions.
The conversation could go something like this.
Heart: "So hey, I think it would be a good idea to live somewhere else"
Mind: " Why do you think that?"
Heart: " I feel uninspired here"
Mind: " What can we do to inspire you?"
Heart: "Ummmm, I don't know, what do you think?"
Mind: " Well, I think we should slow down and take some time to think about all that is involved more deeply"
Heart: " And talk about it together?"
Mind: " Now you've got it! Good Job"
Mind: "Hey Heart?, You do know that true inspiration and happiness comes from just staying open right?"
Heart: " So we can choose to be happy and inspired, where ever we are, no matter what the circumstances?"
Mind: "That is why I listen to you, you are so smart!
I LOVE you!!"
So now you may want to ask your heart, what does it really, really want? Take a few long slow deep breaths, really slow things down before you ask. Listen deeply, take notes- take your time, what's the rush anyway? We have just gotten used to instant everything in our society.
Sometimes the best conversations are slow and deep, long and rich. The best answers are savored, held in our hearts a while, a bit like allowing a piece of chocolate to just melt slowly in your mouth instead, resisting the urge to bite it.
Wishing you all a Happy Valentines Day and an open, happy, inspired heart, no matter what!
